As you will see, we strive to keep to give you best quality poultry and best price! We do this by raising our own crops, handling our own breeder flocks, and actively participating in The National Poultry Improvement Program. We currently have about 20, 000 breeder hens that produce our hatching eggs. We have our own breeder flocks on site, at our hatchery, so we can closely monitor their health and production. Not only do we hatch chicks in our hatchery, but also raise 350 acres of corn and soybeans for our feed. We are truly a working and diversified farm.
Townline Poultry Farm survived and has prospered due to it great flexibility and diversity. Townline Poultry Farm is the only large scale chick hatchery that has continued to operate in Michigan. The industry shifted to Southern states in the 1960s because of cheaper grain and more affordable growing conditions. Poultry orders are shipped through the USPS. There were over 60 hatcheries operating in Zeeland, Michigan. Townline Poultry Farm is a 4th generation poultry farm that hatches one day old baby chicks, ducks, and more.
In fact, Zeeland then had a population of 3, 000 people yet produced an astounding 18 MILLION baby chicks, ducks, and turkeys. Signs welcomed visitors of Zeeland to "The Baby Chick Center of the Midwest". Zeeland was the Baby Chick Center of the Midwest from the 1920s through the 1950s.

Jack's son John joined the business full time in 1995 after earning his Bachelor's degree in Biology from Grand Valley State University Townline Poultry Farm is located in Zeeland, Michigan.
Business is booming.We have doubled since I started 4years ago. Henry continue to to run the office until his death in 1998. I drive for Townline hatchery.We supply all Farm and Home stores, Rural King, and many Tractor Supply stores in the Midwest.TSC start the first week of march.Most chicks that go to Indiania are shipped out of South Bend postoffice. In 1988 his sons Jack, Dick, and Don took over the business from their father. In 1940, Jacob's son Henry Geerlings took over the farm and got his son involved. It was started in 1913 by Jacob Geerlings.
